TACTICAL URBANISM

Bike Infrastructure in the Campus Context

Upon my return from an abroad experience in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2014, I felt stifled by the lack of bike infrastructure on my college campus. I was invigorated by my time there and was eager to feel the freedom of two wheels again!  After some research I found that the ideas of of Tactical Urbanism would be a good way to shake things up. After my study of bicycle and pedestrian patterns on campus. I was able to identify the underutilized spaces on campus that could accommodate bicycle infrastructure. With the help of my peers, I was able to create a series of pop-up bike paths and a series of guerrilla back racks made from reclaimed pallets.
