POWER PERCARITY 

Constructivism was an avant-garde movement that took place predominately in Russia in the 20th-century. Artists of the time sought to create a new visual environment, embodying the social needs and values of the new communist order.

Similar to the ideas of the Russian Constructivists, this piece strives to move beyond the “autonomous art object”, by extending abstract art into practical design work. The "Spin Power" toy was inspired by the paintings, architecture, fashion, and textiles of the movement.

Three pyramid structures balance three spinning discs, in essence creating a practical mechanism. The aim is to call into question the stability of the political ideas of the movement through the user’s experience.
